This morning I found myself singing Charlie Rich's song, The Most Beautiful Girl to my beloved angel dog Bobbie Sue Redmond. As we both started our day, I took extra time to observe Bobbie, aka Angel and as I watched her with extra focus I realized that she always watches me with her full attention, even if she is tired, sick, injured or seemingly sleeping. It occurred to me that a dog never takes their owner for granted or gets lazy in love. A dog does not know selfish. I also realized that she is the epitome of living in present time, something I've been diligently studying through meditation for the last three years and that she demonstrates effortlessly. As her back legs are starting to falter through the passing of time and circumstance, I am in awe of how she adjusts her body weight and knows when to stop trying to move and just lie down. This 48 pound angel is an amazing teacher! Bobbie and I have shared every up and down, we are both survivors of life's hard knocks; once upon a time we were a pack of six, now we are a pack of two. Together, we are one.
