She is a filmmaker who not only inspired Lena Dunham, but who also inspired me with her film Girlfriends; which I happened upon last night and loved. Girlfriends was filmed in 1978, it includes so many interesting layers to take in and process. I love how the right film, painting, book, poem, photograph or ... finds me when I'm ripe for the message or experience, Girlfriends was that film. Awake, Creative Women, we are complex, multi-layered, intense, passionate, emotional beings. I love how this film captured all of that with honest emotion, dialogue, subtlety, humor and grace. I highly recommend Girlfriends.
Here's a wonderful interview with Claudia Weill, who I wanted to know more about after watching her masterpiece last night, enjoy.
