(I love this question and I've been asked it a lot):
Q: I feel utterly uninspired about my life! I am 55 years old, an empty nester, unemployed and recently divorced. How do I ignite passion in my life and become inspired?
A: Passion comes in many forms. Whether it's the first
day of Spring sunshine, a magical night of listening to live music or
hearing the laughter of a loved one. Pay close attention to those things
that strike a chord within your emotional core. When you connect with
your core (passion), doors open, energy ignites and the world reveals
infinite possibilities. Here are my favorite ways to ignite that fire.
1. Serve others - Become motivated to use the knowledge that got
you through your biggest challenges. Being there for others in need can
be a powerful way to experience passion, while also utilizing your most
important life lessons.
2. Surround yourself with passionate people - Passion can be
contagious! When you're in the company of someone who is totally
consumed by something they feel passionate about, it's easier to connect
to your own passionate thoughts and visions.
3. Follow your heart - Pay close attention to what YOU think,
not what everyone else thinks. Make your own rules and follow them. You
will forever be the most important person you'll have to please and
impress.
4. Be a rule breaker - Learn how to disappoint others
gracefully, get comfortable with people not liking you and always strive
to be an original thinker.
5. Always remember - when there's a will, there's a way - Don't
give up when the going gets tough and don't ever put limits on your
abilities.
6. Re-program your mind - People spend way too much time
lamenting the past and feeling worried about the future. Replace ...
what if's ... why didn't I ... I should ... with hopeful, PRESENT repeated thoughts, phrases or mantras.
7. Read On - Go to your local library or bookstore. Whether you
prefer fiction or non-fiction, books will provide you with infinite
clues and information about what inspires you the most.
